Coorg Road Map From Pune

Hi Friends,
just went one of the most exciting Olympic Games Hockey USA vs. Canada to end. Unfortunately my team lost = Canada (Although I am a real brownie beats in my heart still things hockey for Canada! Wenisgtens was the enthusiasm of my roommates great!
Today I want to tell time on hospital dress code in the USA.

In American hospitals, one dressed as a little serious in Germany. In Germany, with often times (of course with the exception of the senior residents) a pair of jeans and a T-shirt under his coat, which is here in the U.S. a No-Go . In all non-surgical specialties as internal medicine or pediatrics, it is therefore a must shirt, tie and suit pants wear. It does not matter how fancy the tie. The more unusual the more compliments you get from nurses and colleagues!

August 2009 :-) echt lustig
girls usually wear dress pants or just nice respectable pants and usually an everyday top.
In the subjects with one operating around the clock Scrubs (blue or green hospital clothes) and that is really all the time. So you go to the supermarket, sport or rides the bus and see people walking around in scrubs. Of course, are brought out "hopefully" new scrubs at the hospital every day :-) Sometimes we can even see U.S. doctors with their coats on the bus ... that's a little or a lot??

Anderst than in Europe, medical students who are no long doctor's coat, but Kittel going to the hip, so that nurses and doctors always know who they are dealing with. On the one hand, this is a good idea, but as a medical student, you feel in the long coat a bit better!

only 2 weeks in the hospital and then 6 months of work life came to an end for now ... over fairly quickly and will not be long before I'm home!
Soon I tell you of my patients with all of their kidney disease!

Shock Absorb Boat Seat

clothes makes people fight and spirit realm at the same time fight with Professor

yeah --- Olympic flame! Oh Canada

Hi guys!
I am back! Three weeks ago I had disappeared from the scene, but strengthened again turned back! Meanwhile, orthopedics is over and I'm again more of my life outside the clinic!
Has something changed in the three weeks? Just that I swim in quickly dizipliniertes training on speed to win and have improved my 500m time within 2 weeks to 1 minute! :-)

After my week in "Foot and Ankle-Orthopaedics, I came to the sports medicine ! What would fit perfectly to me! The combination of medicine, athletes, but also ordinary people is simply beautiful, also you find all the sports injury, surgery (usually cruciate ligament tears, meniscal damage, etc. ..), even at college games (especially football, hockey and lacrosse) while , and treated the injury. So I was on the last Friday vs. Harvard. Brown Icehockeygame, and was "unfortunately" in a Brown player has a 3cm large wound on the forehead with 30 stitches to sew, because the puck has destroyed all the facial muscles. Do it the way yesterday seen again for follow-up tomorrow and can draw seams (so I have not messed it :-)).
Then there were two times a week, Brown Athletic ambulance should go where only the Brown students who are in college sports team. Among other things, came the Beijing 2008 Olympic silver medalist in gymnastics to us in the consultation (which breaks the secrecy?? Naja matter). Would be a nice thing at some point " team Silla Hopp team doctor" who to the .

spent the third week of my rotation I really in the hospital because I was in Trauma Service . Speak the orthopedists all possible bone fractures . Mend That was a 35 hour shift is not unusual for me "on call", that was on call. So my usual morning shift started at around 5 to 18 Clock clock and went from there on up to 5 clock the next morning my resident and I spent most of the time in children's and adult Emergency Room. Until then went off at 5 the next shift clock to 18 clock. Since
asks you whether a doctor to be 30 hours on your feet, can still adequately operate on a patient. Apparently yes, but as can be determined even go a bit wrong! In Germany, many crying for weeks around the 45h, but here is a 100h weeks for orthopedic surgeons are quite common. My

the last week I spent in the Pediatric orthopedics . There were a lot of scoliosis, hip dysplasia, children's typical broken bones, etc. I had, inter alia, for an 8-hour, very impressive scoliosis surgery assisted, where we in a 13-year old girl after opening the back, the crooked curved spine again made "straight" have. The
Lehrstuhlinhabende professor and director of orthopedics Brown " Dr. Ehrlich ," was in the last week my attending physician, with whom I was much in the ambulance, lectures and operations. He is a children's orthopedist, but not quite at a young age, because with its 65 years, he has a crooked back and a dislocated hip grinds, practically one leg always be walking with. On the penultimate day of my electives r he runs me as surprising to his office and sits down with me and a cup of coffee at his large table. Then he started questioning me about my past medical studies, notes, diligence, on my free time and if I have a " Milchbubi " was. Huh?? -Of course I am not! He would have been proved and he was with me on his carpet, and wanted to fight me, or rather " Wrestling " (because he has this once in college ...). So we had time and again in different Attacking positions start until I was in on the ground and he could never move. And I had of course always afraid that I was causing his hip injury or even worse, he has a heart attack, as bad as he had to breathe. In any case, he said at the end: "Wow, I did not think-you are strong" (but struggling with a 65-year-old is not quite as heavy) .-)

Now comes the best part: After the fight, we sat down again and he said "Denis, I like you, I like working like you and what you have to know, and I have actually a very good feel for people." I would like you here Research Fellowship in Orthopaedics offer "- WOW, and offers a not very small content
is also orthopedic specialist direction with the hard today's competitive work sites and Brown exactly 6 places per year from over 800 applicants, and Prof. said Ehrlich. I have good chances if I wanted.
Now please do not think I've said before, because I would still like to work in Germany, but quite away from the world it is not. For if one has a unique opportunity ! not always on the day I was a lucky man - " fight and spirit realm while :-)

On my last day I have to say goodbye to an operating room nurse and ambulance from a protector or chocolate and get a Brown-Orthopedic T-Shirt!

Last Sunday was the big American football finals, the Super Bowl . This is THE event of the year in the States. So we were able to organize, so my flat, can not miss it, a "Super Bowl" Party with Homemade pizza and lots of beer. The game was there really only secondary importance and we had our fun with about 20 people.

Well, and now it has happened. I started with my LAST Elective . Unfortunately, with a very complex subject: Nephrology . A person internal medicine, this has to do with all the diseases of the kidney. The specialty of Internal Medicine poorly thought out, perhaps too much thinking for me, because on the first day I thought: "You have to be 4 weeks by ... this subject but I've deliberately chosen, for once in your life you have to mess around so that you can really give fluids or blood electrolytes get back on the right solder. It has just too much to do with mathematical formulas, and that was frankly never quite my thing.

out of the scrub again with a tie

But I'm curious what I will learn everything, because luckily I have a very good Fellow who tell me very much! But more on that later again!

We had very good luck in January with snow, that is, we had almost no snow in Providence (knock on wood three times "!), But as you can already determined in the news, could be one of the worst Schneestuerme 90 years of Washington, DC roll coming to us, and it was expected to 80cm snow! The schools have been closed for 2 days as a precaution, but in the end was "something" down and there was a storm, but was rather ridiculous ... So never trust a weather service 100%! So much for the first time

to me ... how are you? Glad you you know that I published in April back home? I do not expect an answer :-)
